Bieke Tack received the ISF/ESCMID 2024 Sepsis award

Bieke Tack got honoured with the ISF/ESCMID* 2024 award for her work on sepsis, which was part of her PhD research on invasive non-Typhi Salmonella in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Thierry Calandra, ISF Immediate Past Chair and Secretary, handed over the award to Bieke at the ESCMID Global conference in Barcelona, where she gave an oral presentation of the awarded abstract: “World Health Organization’s clinical criteria orienting hospital referral and diagnosis of serious bacterial infections in children under-five perform poorly”.

Several other colleagues and partners of the Institute of Tropical Medicine attended the ESCMID Global conference and presented their recent work and/or chaired sessions.
