Delayed incubation of blood culture bottles – recommendations for preincubation temperature and time

Ideally, blood culture bottles are incubated as soon as possible after sampling. However, in many tropical settings, high ambient preincubation temperatures (>25°C) and delayed incubator entry due to prolonged transport times are a reality and can affect blood culture results.
